Getting There

By Air
The Lokopriya Gopinath Bardoloi Airport of Guwahati is well connected by air with New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai. The Indian Airlines and Jet Airways operate regular flights to Guwahati. The other towns to which Indian Airlines operates flights are Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Tezpur, North Lakhimpur and Silchar.

Helicopter services are operated from Guwahati to Shillong (30 min/Rs. 625 for Indians and Rs. 850 for foreigners), Tura (50 min/Rs. 1125 for Indians and Rs.1330 for foreigners) and Maharlagun (Itanagar) (75 min/Rs. 2700).

Taxi services including pre-paid service, are available at the airport for transfer to the city and cost about Rs. 300. Taxis can also be hired at the airport for Shillong. for around Rs 1100

By Rail
Assam is well connected by train with the rest of the Country. There are train services from Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Cochin and Tiruvanantapuram. B.G. line connection is upto Dibrugarh and M.G. line with Haflong and Silchor.

By Bus
A network of National Highways and other Roads connect all important places of Assam. All the towns of Assam are well connected by the Assam State Transport Corporation (A.S.T.C.) and other tourist bus services. These buses also ply to the capitals of the neighbouring states.

Night bus services Currently, nigh services are available to : Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Tinsukhia, Silchar. Dimapur, Kohima. Imphal. Aizawl and Itanagar, Services offered by Assam Stat Transport Corporation, Blue Hill Travels, Green Valley Travels, Network Travels and others.

Taxis and auto-rickshaws Rates negotiable, are available at the railway station for transfer to different parts of the city. Taxis for Shillong are available from the taxi stand across the railway station and can be accessed by the railway over bridge.
