Pachmarhi
Eating Out
All the MPSTDC hotels have restaurants serving the same unimaginative
but reliable Indian and Chinese menus at reasonable prices; Amaltas
also has a bar. The charming Rock End Manor also has the edge. Less
expensively, the dhabas along the main road serve generous and very
cheap thalis. The other hotels in this place are as follows:
- Bombay Hotel
Located on the Gandhi Chowk. It is a locally popular choice for
mutton, chicken, egg and paneer curries- some dishes are very
oily and fiery, but the prices are unbeatable.
- China Bowl
Near Panchvati Huts. Here tourists can find good mutton, chicken,
paneer and kofta dishes with a few soups, chopsueys and cbowrneins
thrown in. This place is open for breakfast, too: cutlets, eggs
and South Indian snacks.
- Indian Coffee House
Situated on the Main Rd, just before the bus stand. This place
is open from 8.30am for dosas, coffee and South Indian fast food
lunches.
- Khalsa
This is situated on the bottom end of bazaar, off the main road.
Here, inexpensive, delicious Punjabi and Chinese dishes are served
inside in a frantic, strip-lit atmosphere, or in the calmer garden.
Beer is also available in a side room.
- Mrignayani
Located on the Gandhi Chowk. It is the most hygienic of the cheap
thali joints in the bazaar, serving fiery, pure-veg curries and
piping hot rotis from large vats at rock-bottom prices.
