Chanderi is famous for its brocades and muslins, especially for its hand-woven Chanderi sarees. Here, silk and cotton to create dazzling weaves, distinguished by beautiful borders. Usually in subtle hues, the Chanderi sarees have sophistication, which is very distinct and cannot be matched with any other sarees. In the silk Zari sarees, influences of the Varanasi style are visible. They generally have a rich gold border and two gold bands on the pallav. The more exclusive ones have gold checks with lotus roundels all over, which are known as butis.

Indore's trade and commerce has a close resemblance with Mumbai, hence it is being called as the 'Mini -Bombay'. Indore is hence the "Commercial Capital" of the state. Indore is connected with Mumbai, in every way, thus every business trend be it new fashion, technology or just the business culture, comes in very fast to Indore. Indore is also known for its leather toys and Maheshwari & Chanderi are some very interesting ornate sarees and brocades to offer. There is a lot of zari work coming out of Madhya Pradesh, and the Maheshwari sarees have particularly gained in popularity of late. Besides the fabrics, there are many variety of crafts to choose from. For shopping in Indore there are main places as under: There are many places for a visitor to shop at Indore and it can be fun shopping here.

There are shops located near the temples where you can purchase the local handicrafts and other souvenirs, which at times make good gift items. There are a number of handicraft shops in the market opposite to the Western group of temples and the nearby Gole market. The hotels, Chandela, Jass Oberoi, Holiday Inn, Clarks Bundela and Ashok also have shopping arcades. Photo shops are also located here and cameras are available on hire.

Mandu is basically a historical place, which is surrounded by forests and natural beauty. Being a very small city it does not offer much to purchase and shopping malls are absent. Nevertheless, one can buy some local handicrafts and items made in the region. These items make good souvenirs and decorative pieces. Items made from gold and silver are particularly popular among the tourist as well as the native people. One can always go for some handloom cloths and some colourful garments. Being part of Vindhya range (Malwa), the influence of Vindhyachal (Malwa) tribal art is clearly visible in on the handicrafts and other items. One can also look for leatherwork.
