Eating Out
With a few exceptions, the best places to eat in Jabalpur are the
hotels. Prices are reasonable and most menus varied, though not
everywhere serves alcohol.
Indian Coffee Houses
It is in the Bazaar district where, two branches are in the bazaar,
both great for cheap dosas, idlis, uttapams and other light snacks.
Both open at 8.30am for breakfast.
Kalchuri
It is on the Residency road. Tourists can get their selection of
their standard meat, veg and Chinese dishes. Tandoori dishes served
only after 7.30 p.m.
Panchwati-Gaurav
Located at Civic Centre, civil lines. A cool and well-lit A/c restaurant,
known for its all-you-can-eat Gujarati thalis and all ranging from
Rs. 50-70.
Sahni
Located on the Naudra Bridge. It is a bustling place where a cheap
and generous heap of spicy Punjabi food is served mainly to office
crowd. The more relaxed A/c family room is also available.
Samdariya
This place is off Russel Chowk. The place to splash out on top-notch
Indian and Chinese veg food- their unlimited thalis are particularly
great value at Rs.70 for an array of their best dishes. A western-style
coffee shop also does delicious south Indian dishes.
SSS (Satyam Shivam Sundaram)
This place is near Jyoti cinema on the Naudra Bridge. The inexpensive,
strictly veg food, including thalis and some set menus, is an excellent
value.
