the main hotel area along Hamidia road.

Nearest Destinations From Bhopal
Bhopal makes an excellent starting point if you want to travel to
some other destinations in Madhya Pradesh. Sanchi is a Buddhist pilgrim
destination which offers excellent views into the Buddhist religion.
The first of the "stupas" here were built around 3rd century
BC by King Ashok, a follower of Buddhism. Sanchi is about 45 kilometers
from Bhopal and can be easily traveled to by road. Pachmarhi, a quaint
little army settlement, known as the "Hill Station" of Madhya
Pradesh is about 210 kilometers from Bhopal.
Bhopal is on one of the two broad-gauge train lines between Delhi
and Mumbai. Khajuraho with its umpteen temples and display of the
Kamasutra through the figures/ statues on the temples is about 383
kilometers from Bhopal. In order to head north via Jhansi (for Orchha/Khajuraho),
Gwalior or Agra, a person has a choice between a good twelve or
so regular services, and the super-fast, completely A/c Shatabdi
Express #2001 which leaves Bhopal daily at 2.50pm and arrives in
Delhi eight hours later.
The one train to avoid on this route is the super-slow Arnritsar-Dadar
Express #1457. In the other direction, the 4pm Punjab Mail #2138
is the best for Mumbai (14hr 55min). The nightly service to Jabalpur,
Narmada Express #8233, leaves at 10.45pm and gets in at 5.30am,
leaving time to pick up a connecting bus to Kanha.
Other services to Jabalpur include the excellent A/c Jan Shatabdi
Express #2061 (daily 5.40pm; 5hr 15min), which departs from Habibganj
Station and calls at Itarsi Junction, 92km south, where one can
pick up a connection for Kolkata (Calcutta) and Varanasi.
Most journeys from Bhopal are easier and quicker by train, but
the city's bus connections are useful especially for Indore. Indore
can be reached which can be either on frequent state buses or the
daily MPSRTC super-fast luxury service, which connects with the
arrival of the Shatabdi Express. There are several daily buses to
Pachmarhi (6-8hr), that leave from the state bus stand on Hamidia
Road, the fastest of which departs at 7am.
