Eating Out

MPSTDC has the monopoly on good places to eat in Sanchi. The Tourist Cafeteria offers good food and a lovely base for toast-and-egg breakfast. The Jaiswal serves up tasty home-cooked thalis in the evenings, as do the rather less hygienic dhabas at the far south end of the bus stand- a generous thali at Gopal's here will set a tourist back Rs. 35. Steaming chai, puri, sabzi and jelabi are dished up in the stalls by the bus stand from 7am, as well as the local speciality-sweet samosas stuffed with coconut.
