Washim
Washim (also Basum) is the seat of administration of Washim District, in Maharashtra, India.
Washim is a newly formed district of Maharashtra.Washim has received status of district as a result of constant efforts from shiv sena leader Shree Pundlik Gowli & local residents . It includes tehsils Risod,Malegaon,Mangrulpir,Karanja and the tribal Manora.
Washim which was also known as Vatsagulma was the seat of power during Vakataka dynasty.

Washim is a district in Maharashtra, India. The headquarters is at Washim.
It was once known as Vatsagulma, the capital of the Vatsagulma line of Vakataka dynasaty.
In the year 1905, during the period of the British Raj, Washim district was bifurcated into two separate districts, namely, Akola District and Yeotmal District.
Washim is a District head quarter and an ancient town. The town being connected not merely with recent saints but with classical deities. The most striking feature in the town in the Deo tank, flanked on one side by the temple of Venkateshwara Balaji and on another by that of Ramchandra. These all apparently date from the 18th century Washim in its religious aspect is called Watsa Gulma Kshetra, the sacred place of the gathering of Watsa and Legends about it are given in a Manuscript called Watsa Gulma Puran.
