Karad
"Karad, a town in western Maharashtra is situated along the banks of two rivers, Krishna and Koyna. Karad, originally named Karhatak has its significance because of the wide "Y" (180 degrees) shaped confluence of these two rivers.
Besides being called as the cultural city after Pune, it also is the center stage for education. Karad also takes the pride as the hometown of Maharashtra State's first Chief Minister, Mr. Yashwantrao B. Chavan. A memorial, surrounded by a beautiful park has been built on the banks of Krishna River to commemorate this great leader. "
